It looks like the "working on..." bit in his profile is a key element. :-) He had a bug in it for a while, but as far as I know it's fixed now. You might have to delete the gadget and maybe even restart your browser before adding it again, I'm not sure how strongly Goggle caches old versions, or if they do or it's your browser. UOTD gadget moves to http://pirates.spy-hill.net/uotd-gadget.xml Project Summary gadget is http://pirates.spy-hill.net/project_summary-gadget.xml UOTD listing for multiple BOINC projects is http://pirates.spy-hill.net/BOINC-uotds.xml This last one just gets files made by the projects, uotd.html. Except for Pirates, these files have relative URL's, which screws up links and images. When they change this (Rytis knows about it) the list will look better. To try these go to http://www.google.com/ig, select custom page if you don't already have one, select "Add stuff>>", then "add by URL" and enter one of these URL's.

The iGoogle gadget for showing a project's User of the Day has been incorporated into the latest BOINC source code. Soon you will be able to use this for any BOINC project. It looks like the "working on..." bit in his profile is a key element. :-) He had a bug in it for a while, but as far as I know it's fixed now. You might have to delete the gadget and maybe even restart your browser before adding it again, I'm not sure how strongly Goggle caches old versions, or if they do or it's your browser.

Quite by accident I found that if you add a gadget via URL and the URL points to a page with an RSS feed then the gadget displays the feed.

Actually, Google misleads you. If the gadget does not "compile" correctly (the XML is not correct) then it says it can't find it, even though it can.
