Hi,
I've an issue with Pirates@Home project initialization by BAM since I've to reinstall my BOINC manager on my Windows 7 PC. Since then the project has no user related data e.g. team, scores, username in BOINC. I've an error every time I push refresh button in the manager like this: Update requested by the user (it's true of course), Sending scheduler request: Requested by user and the last line is 'Pirates@Home is in drydock after an emergency server change in February.'
Can you help me with this project initialization issue? or What can I do for solve it myself?
Best regards, fenya25 |

Sure, but can’t we pleeeeeeease have at least a server that lets the master file download succeed and just returns 0 WUs so that we can successfully attach, get the proper resource share (I have Pirates@Home high at 800 of course!) and other?
/me also just coming back from a hiatus. Thanks to TerraCaching, no less.

Admin of this project has stated that he pretty well shuts all backend down, except the forums until he starts up a new set of units. Since it's so random when units might be released, maybe 2-3 times a year and only for a few days at a time and these units really do nothing, there is no reason to keep the backend going. The project once did real work many years ago, but has just become a sentimental hold for the owner, who's had some life changing events and does not monitor even the forums very often.
So I do not think any wish of getting BAM to sync up with the project, even if it has units to crunch for a couple of days, it may not have the settings configured to allow BAN to control it.

Maybe, but I'm not actually using BAM. I get a master file now, but an error message upon download, so it doesn’t help any since the client doesn’t correctly initialise the project.
I think a quick hack could be to hack the pirates@home server to make “feeder not running” into a warning instead of an error, so it would just return success and “there’s no work atm”.

You put this under a BAM header message, but did not specify you were not using BAM, so it was implied.
The only service kept online is the forums. All others get shut down, and the way BOINC works it causes that error. Not the projects fault for how BOINC is programmed in the backend. Ignore the errors and be happen when/if we get new work.
