Nothing much, except to make the code consistent so that it builds on both Windows and Linux. The previous version required all sorts of little tweaks to get it to run on Windows. As for the image, I know we have a new logo, but I thought the old one was best for this use. It took more than I expected to get it to work, so now I have a 4 layer Gimp version of the old logo, if anybody would want it. :-) ____________ -- Eric Myers "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." -- William Butler Yeats

It's pretty choppy on my Fedora box, Eric.

Whoa! First time I've seen this particular one. Very nice. Thought I saw a Tardis outline in there briefly. Must be a Dr. Who fan coding this one...

I managed to get two WU's running at the same time. The graphics were fairly smooth (much better than last time), even with the graphics windows expanded. After I got them both running and expanded, though, the time to completion clocks slowed to nearly stopped for about a minute and a half. Progress percentage slowed way down to just a few thousandth's of a percent every second or so. After the munute and a half was up, both the clocks and the completion speeded up somewhat. The clocks were only kicking over a second about every 3 to 5 seconds. When the lead WU finally closed, the remaining WU seemed to finish up quite normally. Graphics seemed to run about the same all the way though.

I managed to get two at once also, and for a change had a chance to open the graphics. Very cool, definitely reminiscent of Dr Who. I didn't try opening them both at once, but looking at them separately, the motion was reasonably smooth. I didn't notice a slowdown at any point in the run.

I finally, after missing several WUs in the background, got a look at this one...

Oh yeah, no problems on my end, save one bit of chop which I think was due to something else the computer was doing. Otherwise, looks nice and smooth, even at full screen, on my Athlon 1900+ with 1GB RAM and 128MB GeForce4 4600.

Seems one of my ship lost pace. Suddenly it needs thrice the time it needed before. All pirate wus needed about 230s - 250s up to 597381 now they all need 700s - 830s from 597497 on.

Sorry about that. I built this version on a Tiger machine, so it is not surprising that it had problems on Panther. I have a G3 runnint Panther, but it seems to be having some problems of it's own - maybe only dust bunnies. I've yet to figure out how to transfer Charlie's build method for backward compatible version from XCode to a Makefile, though I'm sure it's possible. I'll be interested to see if apps built on Tiger will run correctly on Leopard. ____________ -- Eric Myers "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." -- William Butler Yeats

Thanks for the tip, but the CTRL+ALT+DEL doesn't work. I think the Task-Manager opens, but I can't see it because the display still shows the saver picture.
