1) Message boards : Help! : Pirates@Home & BAM project initialization (Message 9187)
Posted 24 days ago by Profile mirabilos
Maybe, but I'm not actually using BAM. I get a master file now, but an error message upon download, so it doesn’t help any since the client doesn’t correctly initialise the project.

I think a quick hack could be to hack the pirates@home server to make “feeder not running” into a warning instead of an error, so it would just return success and “there’s no work atm”.

Sure, but can’t we pleeeeeeease have at least a server that lets the master file download succeed and just returns 0 WUs so that we can successfully attach, get the proper resource share (I have Pirates@Home high at 800 of course!) and other?

/me also just coming back from a hiatus. Thanks to TerraCaching, no less.

Actually, while I did change the Makefiles to use “B)”,
there are no other diffs there.

You use $+ which is a GNUism in some, but I just called
it using gmake then.

Okay, thanks for the information. I have been aboard for a while…
although most of the results were on GNU/Linux until now.

If you’re interested, I can provide MirBSD and MidnightBSD binaries
for the apps once I succeeded testing it. (Writing the app_info.xml
is annoying, btw.) I might also know people using OpenBSD, NetBSD,
Solaris, DragonFly BSD, and possibly, FreeBSD. We can pioneer ☺

When I’m done, I’ll do a cvs diff on the tree and send that to you,
as things did not compile 100% cleanly, initially, even with that
rather old g++ 3.4.6 of mine.

They collect open source projects, read over the code and logs,
and try to calculate metrics (for example, percentage of languages
in the code, licences, how well it is commented, how many people
contributed how much). The metrics are often a little weird, but
that’s it. They also measure people, for example you can add soft-
ware you use to a “stack” (for example, I added gcc to my develop-
ment stacks, and BOINC to the list of projects Pirates@Home uses),
so they see what is used how much, and how things connect.

I also don’t quite get it, a friend annoyed me until I registered,
but it comes in handy (commit stats, for example). They also can
offer downloads if people then so chose.

Both i386-ecce-mirbsd and i386-unknown-midnightbsd platforms work, FWIW.
More details see the mail.

It waited well ☺

Now I’m going to have to change the port of BOINC to build
the graphics support libraries, but I’ll only do that if
you tell me if 5.x stable series is ok or 6.x is desired.
Plus I can’t do that if it requires wxwidgets, but ISTR it
is only used for the GUI, so it should™ work.

/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lboinc_graphics_api

Other than that… “hello” app is up and running, waiting for WUs.
Standalone mode did succeed.
