Yup, did the same for me. The button was checked for "use this avatar"
but there was nothing in the form, so it failed. I got around it by
checking "don't use an avatar" and it didn't change mine.

It should default to don't use (or don't change!).
This should probably be forwarded to the BOINC developers.
