I invite all Australians to join a team involved in all BOINC projects, become part of the Aussie Alliance and help compete with other large national teams. Let's show everyone what important science means to us all!

We have an active web site, forum and great team members. If you're interested please click on the link in my signature.

  • Why start a new team at the bottom of the pack, when we are already within striking distance of the top 30?
  • We are already ranked 31 out of more than 49,000 teams in the world for combined BOINC projects.
  • We're the number 1 Aussie team, with more than 33 Million credits - That is a lot of science!
  • Australian name, for ALL Aussie crunchers.
  • Team website and forum, and infrastructure available to grow it.
  • The team is active in all current BOINC projects.
  • We have members all over the country and quite a few expats overseas.
  • Your existing individual credits will not be lost.
  • Future credits from all projects will help build a powerful alliance.

Together we can not only be the top Australian team, but in the top 20 of the world.

We are always open to new suggestions and new members. Come and look us over - You can check out our web site by clicking on the team logo below and also have a look around our forum. About time we had an update.....

The team have just moved into 28th position with almost 60 million credits Combined BOINC and are in the top 10 in 11 of the BOINC projects.

Australia Day is a reasonable target to see the team move into 26th position......

Remember the Aussie Assault on SETI@Home a couple of months back?
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=35817

Well, we're at it again! AA5 has been mounted on http://abcathome.com/
and it has turned into a fantastic struggle - BOINC@AUSTRALIA versus l'Alliance Francophone.

Here's a clip from the project news section;

06 February, 2007
It's been a while since the last news. Everything is running pretty good, and we're very satisfied. Currently there is a friendly exciting competition going on between Boinc Australia and all french speaking persons gathered in l'Alliance Francophone. Who will win is an interesting question, the French speaking guys have assembled an entire army, but the Australians are tough! Or will a third team arise and claim victory? Further more, today I rewrote part of the stats daemon, I hope it will be implemented tomorrow: stats can be updated more frequently and it contains a few bug fixes.

....and you can follow some of the battle here -
http://abcathome.com/forum_thread.php?id=76#1638

AA5 is scheduled to run until February 14th and it will be interesting to see the final result
of this David vs. Goliath face-off!
http://abcathome.com/top_teams.php?sort_by=total_credit

Of course, anyone can join in the fun - it's not just the race for No.1 !

The Aussie Assault on ABC@Home is coming to an end and it has been a fantastic experience for all involved.

l'Alliance Francophone ran up nearly three million credits and us Aussies are just creeping up to the two million mark now.

At the end of the day, though, it's not just the credits - it's the enjoyment of competition, team spirit and understanding different nationalities/cultures.
The guys at AF now realise exactly what we try to achieve on these Aussie Assaults and have thanked us for showing them something extra that can be gained from BOINCing.

The head honcho on the project - Hendrik - deserves a special mention for keeping everything together while two teams of looneys went at it hammer and tongs!

Looking forward to Aussie Assault 6..........

*** UPDATE TIME ! ***

Almost two weeks have passed since AA5 on ABC@Home drew to a nail-biting close.
Both teams - BOINC@AUSTRALIA and l'Alliance Francophone gained a lot from the two weeks.

We have also gained ground in combined ranking - now placed 25th overall in team ranking.

Some of the guys are having a 'mini-assault' on one of the 'medical' projects - why not visit our forums and see if you can find out which project?
All of the individual project sub-fora are open to public view.
Link to the forums index - http://xsorbit31.com/users5/boincaustralia/index.php

Next item on the agenda for the team?
Discussions will be opening shortly to decide the target for AA6!

G'day crunchers everywhere!

We are now starting Aussie Assault 6 (AA6). After being runner up in the last few polls for the AA, Einstein has been chosen to be the project which will receive our concentrated attention for the next few weeks.

Bruce Allen who is the Forum moderator, Project administrator, Project developer and Project scientist for Einstein has agreed, after much persuasion from members of the Team, and instigated by Mike Mitchell, to crunch Einstein for our Team. He has started this already and his numbers are very impressive.

The Aussie Assaults are a regular team-building exercise we run here at BOINC@AUSTRALIA - the results are always impressive and we have great fun at the same time. In the last Assault (on ABC@Home) another team - l'Alliance Francophone - learnt how much fun these assaults can be and helped both BOINC@AUSTRALIA and the project itself achieve spectacular results.
(overview of that assault here.)

So - Gentlemen - START YOUR ENGINES !!!

Calling all members of BOINC@AUSTRALIA!

You may be aware that Aussie Assault 7 is due to begin (on 01 June) and will run until 14 June.
The target is WCG - World Community Grid. This project actually crunches four separate causes:-
1) Fight Aids at home
2) Genome comparison
3) Human Proteome folding
4) Help cure Muscular Dystrophy

WCG is slightly different to the other BOINC projects. If you have any difficulty attaching, check the team forum.
Help is available!

Any other 'homeless' crunchers out there who would like to join in the fun, feel free - we are the No.1 Australian team,
currently in 18th position Combined Boinc World ranking.
Visit the team forum here for more details about the team.

G'Day Crunchers Everywhere!

Aussie Assault Number 9 is on the starting blocks and this time the target is QMC@Home.
The team will be concentrating a significant portion of their processing power on that project from
October 1st for the following two weeks.

Aussies anywhere in the world - if you are teamless, come and join us! We have a great team website where
you can get all the support (both moral and technical!) that you need. Just click on the team logo in my sig and
follow the links to the forum.

And of course, the invite is open to non-Aussies too! (hey, I'm a 100% Pom and they let me in.....)

The starting gun goes off at Midnight Sunday local time for all the team.

Aussie Assault 8 was hard work because SETI had problems but QMC has a good track record
for reliability. Let's hope we have a good Assault this time!

By any measure Aussie Assault 9 (AA9) on QMC has been a fantastic success!!

Even though AA9 is officially over, the team has just passed 10 million credits in QMC, the last 5 million all in the last 18 days. That is an enormous amount of science crunched.

The team's daily output should have started winding down to about double its pre-AA levels, about 50,000 a day, but we are still seeing around 250,000 a day. Not to bad for QMC.

It should start to drop in the next week or so but the project has caught the interest of many BOINC@AUSTRALIA members. That's another great side affect of the AA's.

The next event starts on 1 December 2007.
