I was wondering if this project is ever going to get off the ground ?
Is there a secret to getting any work units ?
I have been with this project since 7/21/2004 and have NEVER gotten any work units at all ! !

Well I set it to check every hour. Still nothing since the first post. Going on half a year at Pirates and not even one work unit ? Is it even worth keeping it attached to my BOINC projects. Or should I just give up and stay with all my other projects..
If there is are no work units WHY ?
Looks like after a half a year i would of at least had some ?
Going by your signature you joined way after me. and have a lot of credits... ?

This project only generates work when there is something specific to test. Most of the time there is no work for this reason. There is no real science done here it is just a test bed for einstein@home. It is up to you to decide if this is important enough to leave it attached on your computer(s). I personally have decided that this project rates one computer out of 6.

Well after thinking about this particular project
I rank it a 0 out of 10.
So i am going to un-attach the project.....

well, you know, personally, i think that those who have such qualms are good riddance. If you are not going to take a look at the data PIRATES is sending out, and actually test it and attempt to break it, what is the point?

plus, more data for those of us that care.

sorry for all the commas ;)

What data being sent out ?
I was here since 7/21/2004 and never got one single work unit !
I was a member of SETI long before there was even a mention of BOINC, and processed many, many units and many hours of data on both of my computers.
I do not think it does any good to have my computer to check with Pirates on a hourly basic for WU's and never get any. I would rather have it just crunch the data that it does get from the other BOINC projects..
If you actually get any works units, good for you... I will try and leave it at that...

it's hard to believe

active corsar member since 19 Sep 2004

It's so sad, yesterday was out and 3 clients got some "helo" appl to do.

Only over logs the information could collected.

The message is, just let the client(s) attached and let them play.

I Wish you good luck to get the one or the other work.

one of my hosts has never gotten any work either

but the rest have, some of the hello units yesterday, though the majority closed out as 0sec and 0 credit.

and i am sorry that you havn't gotten any units, but that's life. You do need to have a Large resource share for pirates, i put mine so high that einstein stopped sending me work, had to tweak those a bit.

and if you want to play seniority, i have been with SETI@Home since day 3 of the public release in 1999, been following David Drake's work since i was 8.

whatever, that's all i'm saying.

I got some of the hello wu's yesterday. I have gotten several wu's since I got my DSL connection this past month. Nothing before that though... Good luck on catching one of the few WU's this project sends out!!

L8r,
