It seems that the invitation code mechanism is working as intended, including the way the client connects to the project. (That was the part which had problems earlier.) To finish the job I'd like to request some help from the crew to do the 'internationalization'.

...if anybody is feeling the need to 'do it right' then you can download the file en.po, edit it appropriately... I tried to open the pirates.en.po in poEdit v.1.3.4 for Windows and was invited with plenty (exactly 30) of "Malformed header:" messages: 'I like this profile', 'I find this profile offensive', 'Invitation Code', etc... until 'Join the discussion...' Possibly because of the missing s prior to s? OK, I've got it, luckily doesn't matter. Problem is in excessive (LOL, exactly 2 (two) (and once 0 (zero), so better said incorrect) instead of 1 (one)) number of spaces between msgid and folowing " quote. Capt'n, please make your duty! :-D ____________ Peter .-)

I could also try to post the translation here, but the last attempts with my alphabet few months ago were not successful... Let's give it a try:

I uploaded the Danish translation of the en.po file as a txt file. [color=navy][size=12][b]Those who can, do.

I've uploaded pirates.sk.po file. In order to keep original english texts available for the translator person, I copied the msgstr "..." lines in front of the corresponding msgid "..." lines and prefixed them with # , thus making it readable as a comment. Feel free to discard them.

I uploaded the Danish translation of the en.po file as a txt file. Thank you. Though I'm not sure that this feature is completely working (yet). And I made it less formal as the former translation, adressing you as you singular and not as You plural, as we do here of civility to strangers. (Not so much used anymore) Less formal (and less civil) certainly seems appropriate for Pirates. ____________ -- Eric Myers "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." -- William Butler Yeats

I've uploaded pirates.sk.po file. I can already see a few of the SK translations on the pages (did you applied them yesterday or does it happen automatically?), but only a little part of them, most are still in english. And BTW, on the Language selection page, there are still no Language names for cz and sk languages (and non-existing cs language), see also my older post 2577 in the Character encoding problems thread. Maybe there could be some "Change your displayed language" link somewhere (Help or Your Account), or am I missing it? Few minutes ago I uploaded a corrected version. It seems that it is not used automatically, probably manually after check & approval. ____________ Peter .-)

I uploaded the Danish translation of the en.po file as a txt file. Well, I'm not familiar with these kind of files, so I want you to check it and save it in the appropriate format. Yes, we are pretty informal here on this ship, and also on most BOINC projects, but I read some time ago, that you also wanted to develop to other fora, such as for educational establishments and others, so some more formal language may be appropriate for these. And here we have two ways of adressing people, the you singular (du, dig), we use for people we know and for children, and You plural (De, Dem), we use for grown up strangers and for courtesy. Even it's not so used anymore. But I use the You plural (De) to elderly people, I don't know personally, who would consider it as impoliteness, if I adress them as you (du). In court, you can get fined for not adressing the judge as De and Dem! Not to mention the royals here! :-O So there are a difference in the words here and how we use them. ____________ [color=navy][size=12][b]Those who can, do.

Aye Captain, i did it. Uploaded the file pirates.de.po.txt, eventually stripped some CR/LFs because i do not have a po-editor yet. Just look into it - hope there isn't too much work left to get it back in style :-) If further translation is appreciated, just let me know ... but beware, i'll be off the next couple of days to sail the seven seas and find some treasury ... I can already see a few of the SK translations on the pages (....), but only a little part of them, most are still in english. It seems that there is no sk.po (yet) for BOINC in general. Interested in doing that one too? ____________ -- Eric Myers "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." -- William Butler Yeats

Some texts on Main Page, Help!, Message Boards and Your Account pages are displayed translated (including the Powered by Boinc!), but on the Project Status page everything is English (even the same link names on the top of page). I could give it a try (when I'll have some boredom :) Have you some secret map handy for finding that treasure of words out, Capt'n? (Or is it the main Web and GUI translations page?) But I was only surprised that the page titles on the Project Status page is not translated as on the rest of pages. Has sure nothing to do with some boinc_general.sk.po ;-) ____________ Peter .-)

Have you some secret map handy for finding that treasure of words out, Capt'n? (Or is it the main Web and GUI translations page?) That is it exactly, and you should follow the instructions there for contacting the translation coordinator. But I was only surprised that the page titles on the Project Status page is not translated as on the rest of pages. This is probably because this page is cached, so what you are seeing is the page when it was generated by someone else, in English. I see an interesting problem here in the localization. We might want to mention this to the translation coordinator. Suppose you view a page when the cached copy has expired, so a new one is generated, in Slovakian. That is fine for you, but then for the next hour (or whatever the interval is) everybody who views that page gets the Slovakian version. The caching mechanism needs to know that there should be different versions for different languages. I know how to arrange this, but I suspect it would be up to the person working on this part of the code to implement it. ____________ -- Eric Myers "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." -- William Butler Yeats

Have you some secret map handy for finding that treasure of words out, Capt'n? (Or is it the main Web and GUI translations page?) Aye aye, sir! But I was only surprised that the page titles on the Project Status page is not translated as on the rest of pages. Now I can see it in Slovak language: "Stav projektu ... CACHED 12:21 PM EDT on 26 May 2006 (updated every 5 minutes)". I'll take a look at the evening and will try to keep the SK version (my small treasure) for a while there :-) ____________ Peter .-)
