Hi guys, sorry if the question is silly... but I found nothing of help (maybe the SETI forums, bet they are down)! I donloaded the version 4.24 of BOINC client. When I ran the file, setup didn't work because it needed the windows scripting server 5.6. I went to the Microsoft site, downloaded and istalled it. Then setup started correctly. But after seconds it shows a dialogue with the following text:"Setup has detected an older version of BOINC which must be uninstalled before this version of BOINC can be installed. Is it a JOKE??? As I understand, BOINC can't be simply uninstalled, it can only be removed - along with (just to name one) the CP model and all... Did I miss something? TIA ____________ <br />

I recently did that update and tried as they said, and it worked. I went to the control panel, add/remove programs, and uninstalled BOINC. Then I installed 4.24 on the same folder that 4.19 was and all my work was still there. I guess when it uninstalls it doesn't delete everything, just the client and configs, leaving the projects data all there. ____________ You can join our Team too! BOINC can simply be removed through add/remove programs. It will only uninstall the BOINC files, not touch any of your work units, be it that they are already in use or not. CC4.24 uses a different kind of engine. It will give you the chance to install the boinc.exe as a service right from the start, or just run it everytime you start up Windows, while there's a seperate BOINC Manager, a seperate program that you have to start up yourself to change things in etc. It's no longer as in 4.19 where it's all in one. Hence why you need to uninstall 4.19 before reinstalling 4.24 (and most probably need a reboot, so the boinc service starts). ____________ Jord. The BOINC FAQ Service.

(why do they have to put terroristic descriptions like "are you really, really sure you want to defintely remove boinc software and all related science and never be able to undo your decision", anyway?
