The run of last weekend was a test of the latest server_stable branch of the BOINC software on our upgraded server. Here are the results: Pass Rate, by Operating System, past 7 days Version OS Total Tasks Pass Rate Fail Rate 609 Darwin 464 0.4310 99.5690 608 Darwin 234 0.0000 100.0000 608 Linux 8163 99.6447 0.3553 608 Unknown 50 100.0000 0.0000 608 Windows 28922 98.5582 1.4418 Pass Rate, by OS and CPU, past 7 days Version Op System/CPU Total Tasks Pass Rate Fail Rate 609 Darwin/PPC 15 13.3333 86.6667 609 Darwin/x86 449 0.0000 100.0000 608 Darwin/PPC 12 0.0000 100.0000 608 Darwin/x86 222 0.0000 100.0000 608 Linux/x86 7856 99.6309 0.3691 608 Linux/x86-64 307 100.0000 0.0000 608 Unknown/x86 50 100.0000 0.0000 608 Windows/x86 27282 98.5082 1.4918 608 Windows/x86-64 1640 99.3902 0.6098 604 Linux/pSeries 2 100.0000 0.0000 As you can see, things worked fine on Windows and Linux, but failed miserably on the Mac platforms. The problem was that the executable was looking for dynamic versions of the BOINC libraries, but they could not be found. So for hello 6.09 I packaged the dynamic versions up with the executable, but that did not fix the problem. I think I now know how to get around this difficulty, so another version will be released soon just for Mac. ____________ -- Eric Myers "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." -- William Butler Yeats

Well, then THIS is the reason for a message + notice 25.09.2010 10:28:03 | Pirates@Home | Message from project server: hello - Hello, BOINC World! is not available for your type of computer. BTW I was looking hard and could not find any visible link to the Applications page somewhere from the Main Page. Could please someone wiser and with more eyes point me onto it? ,-) [edit]My apologies, I had to lit another candle and found it later: "More about Pirates@Home" / "• Pirate Applications".[/edit] ____________ Peter .-) ![]()

I have had trouble finding too, even though I know it's there, so I moved it. See what you think about the new position. Is it any better than the old? ____________ -- Eric Myers "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." -- William Butler Yeats

Indeed. A good move to bring Project Status and Pirate Applications together as related pages. BTW, the nested quotes are forwhateverreason too narrow and look 'ugly' ,-( ____________ Peter .-) ![]()

The reason for this message is that there is, for now, only work for the Mac crew. The Windows and Linux apps have been turned off (check the list of apps linked in this thread). This also shows one of the many reasons we need to update the BOINC web code. The construct _("message..") is an older way in which messages were localized (converted to a local language). ____________ -- Eric Myers "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." -- William Butler Yeats

Thanks for the explanation, and I now see that I should have read the earlier discussion more carefully than I did as it pertained to Mac users...

On the other hand, it would be better for me to find a way to make the app compatible with older versions of the OS, including 10.3. I'll take a look at that... ____________ -- Eric Myers "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." -- William Butler Yeats

Well I ran updates and it still shows 10.4.1, but now it completes units. I am unsure if you did you fix, or the update I ran did fix it. It looks nice to see this box able to do this work finally. This is the first time it has completed good units. It had failed every time before this. Thank you for having me at least look at the box and try to update it, and also looking at your side.

Another Q, when we ran these units last time we got a lot more credit. How come this set is being penalized? Especially since we are testing something so in depth?
