Sneaky, getting that work in. I only see it has crunched and is ready to report, haven't seen it running as of yet. Will try to do better. If of course, there's new work to be had (no work from project).

Then again, at 7 to 12 seconds of run time, what's there to be seen? ;-) Not only that, but there is no screensaver for this little app. This is the simplest BOINC app, and this is the first version I've tried which was built with the BOINC 6 code. We'll follow up with the rest of the series after this (or at least try). But first, there are more errors for this version of 'hello' than usual, and so it might be helpful to see if we can figure out why. If you have one of the few that have failed, perhaps you could post some details? Also, we are still using old server code, and at some point we'll bring the server code up to BOINC 6 as well. ____________ -- Eric Myers "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." -- William Butler Yeats

Running fine on both 32 and 64 bit Linux with 6.2.14 clients. Only thing of note is that the Windows app is significantly faster than the the Linux app.

We should see how they compare when we get to longer WU's. ____________ -- Eric Myers "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." -- William Butler Yeats

Linux Starboard apps have always been significantly slower than Windows Starboard apps, too. But with these Hello app it's even worse. C2D @ 2GHz running openSuSE 11 x86_64 takes 14 seconds per WU, while Mobile Celeron 1,5GHz running Windows 2000 takes 12 seconds and C2Q @ 3,2GHz only 3 seconds. :P I made another observation: On the Windows hosts, all WUs have a Memory Leaks Detected!!! part in stderr out, but on the Linux host, it's OK.

My first attempt to fix it with a small tweak failed, so I need to sit down and take some time to sort out the cause. Then there will be another round of testing. And it will include Mac :-) ____________ -- Eric Myers "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." -- William Butler Yeats
