I don't know but I'd say that as all good things have an end, so will Pirates. But even so, we can't think of it as a sad event, because in the end a "new life" will be born (Einstein@Home). And it will need all our attention and care as much as Pirates has since it was born too.
I'd suggest that an official document was created, posted a link on the main page, and translated to several languages as the screensaver one, answering this question once and for all to everyone! Then the project admins would have some well deserved peace and rest... right Wormholio? :) lol

Pirates@Home will end at some point, but not right when Einstein@Home goes public. It's actually lasted longer than originally expected, because it has provided a useful test stand to try new things without interupting the central development (or, in future, central production). One reason it's been sucessful is the crew of "Guinea Pigs" willing to try out new stuff. Thank you, maties.
Further tests and improvments are planned, so stay attached if you are still interested and willing to help. It will likely come and go in sporadic fashion as before. Maybe more sporadic, now that classes are starting up again at Vassar.
In the longer term, it's likely that Pirates will shut down no later than the end of spring. It might be adrift sometime before that (no work, for real), but when it's time to scuttle 'er it might be fun to go out in a blaze of glory with the new "roulette" application I've recently written (see the Developer's Notes). But in truth I'm likely to not release that beast upon the public.
Stand by for a new test shortly, for another part of the crew...

Well I only hope, that before the final close up time, we all get at least a minimum try on that russian roulette with bullets in all the chambers.
That - to me - sounds like the final way of killing all crew that has participated in here.
Could you prepare some kind of nice "Pirate type diploma" to give to all participants before going away forever, so we may keep a nice memory of these days.
Gheee!! it sounds pathetic, romantic and poetic all at the same time!!
I'd love to print one directly from the sreen, so think about it - "only for your eyes" ...007 Capt.Jack Sparrow

Why not give us a chance and try Sicilian Roulette (that's all the chambers are filled save one). Even pirates have honour!

It does sound like the roulette application is more like Sicilian Roulette, but I had never heard of that.

I think you have excellent designers over there and creating anice printable diploma would not be difficult - and nice.
