I'll start off by saying this is probably a pretty uncommon set of events.

This evening was the first time I visited the Glossary while using my Linux box (Firefox 2.0.0.6 - Ubuntu Feisty Fawn).

Eric had requested I look at a specific page. I bookmarked the page while still in Windows. My bookmarks on the various computers sync automatically via an add-on.

I went directly to the Glossary page (Forum Features, if it's important) via the bookmark.

I received a message that I wasn't logged in and I needed to do so.

I click the log on button and was greeted with a page that said I had to log on through Pirates. That's fine.

I went to the Pirates home page expecting to find myself logged out, but I wasn't.

I clicked on the Glossary link and was able to immediately able to enter the glossary. After doing this, I was able to use the direct bookmark to the specific page.

I just had the same problem when jumping in from a link in Wikipedia directly to the glossary. So there seems to be a bug in the co-authentication extension. Thank you for noting it here.

I found that jumping to a Pirates (non-glossary) page and then back to the glossary got me authenticated to the glossary, even without having to log in again. I wonder then if there is something about the age of the "stay logged in" cookie, or something else like that. I've not looked at that code in a while. Looks like I'll have to dig into it again...

To me this seems quite normal. If I havn't visited pirates with my pc, then the authentification for wiki isn't there. When I then change to pirates my pc automatically logs in as it should. After that the authentification for the wiki is there also.

I remember that it should work this way.

But actually trying right now, i can see all pages of the pirate-wiki without being logged in, which is different from what Kathryn experienced.

You can look at the Pirates wiki without being logged in. But you cannot edit.

You can see if you are logged in from the upper right corner.

Ideally, if you checked "stay logged in on this computer" then you should just be able to jump into the wiki and you'll be logged in.

But I think you have found the explaination. After your PHP session expires you actually are not logged in to pirates, but when you come back it logs you in automatically, based on a cookie in your browser. But if you jump directly to the wiki you are not logged in to Pirates, so you are not logged in to the wiki. When you try to do something it sends you to a page where you are asked to log in. But visiting that page causes you to log in. Confusing.

I think this gives me an idea for what needs to be changed where. Thank you.
