This thread contains an unusual title - word *thread* should be possibly bolded in some email clients, upon receiving a new post notification.

I'm asking any volunteer to post one message here, so that I'll get a notification. And please also one message to the sibling Test thread 1

Thanks.

So the asterisked word was really bolded just by the email client.

Thanks for help, Mad Mary Bonney ,-)

Which e-mail client? This is wiki markup for bold in Twiki (but not MediaWiki),
but I didn't know e-mail clients did that too.

Not sure of all, but at least Mozilla-family - Thunderbird and SeaMonkey are formatting plain text emails if they contain words, surrounded by //, ** or __ - at least these are the only I'm aware of.

And the email notification contained just such text. IIRC I was previously not subscribed to any such thread.

Or you were, but you were just not getting it. For a long while I had problems getting such notifications out to everybody, until I switched over to using postfix for outbound mail from the server.

Or you were,

Yes I really was, when I've posted there few times up to some year ago, but after being multiple times stolen my gold (these pirates!) I've switched the notification off :-)
(Maybe I had to write "recently" instead of "previously".)

but you were just not getting it. For a long while I had problems getting such notifications out to everybody, until I switched over to using postfix for outbound mail from the server.

Quite possible. But there were already times in the past, when the notification was working. (I'd have to use BOINC's comfortable search functions (to query my old posts in the forum), which additionally limit the query to 1 year.)

(I'm wishing a BOINC-wide search function, maybe according to my CPID, which would allow me to look for my posts on all projects, sorted by time, without the 1 year and 10 posts per page limit. This would be possibly a nightmare for top-posters :)

I just had occasion to look at the "autocorrection" features (if you can call them that) of MS Word, and I see a checkbox to allow it to "replace as you type *Bold* and _italic_ with real formatting". So that convention is not limited to Trac or some mailers.

(I don't use Word much, so I'd never seen that before.)
