Can anyone shed some light on this problem?

I've just processed my first pirates wu. When I had a look at the results page (work unit 33351) I noticed that the other hosts processed the wu in 179 and 236 seconds, whereas mine took a jaw dropping 23,378 seconds!!!

Um....can anyone throw any light on what's going on here?

System is Athlon2700, Win2k SP4, BOINC v4.13, IE6 SP1 all relevant patches installed.

BTW My "SetiBOINC" wu's generally process in around the same amount of time as on other hosts, though for some unknown reason my host, more often than not, claims significantly more credit than the others.

Rest easy Ensor, there's nothing wrong with your computer or boinc. :)
When the scroll workunits are processed without turning the graphics on, either window or screensaver, then they'll time out after a maximum of 5 minutes (300 seconds). That's why your mates did it in 179 and 236.
You get very little credit for that... less than 1 credit, so you're encouraged to let it work for the several hours that it'll take if you want to get more credits.

Arggh !yeap
but in fact if one of the other computer (who worked on the same WU) didn'nt open the graphic Window you will work 2 hours for the minimum of credit -> less than One :(

Thats why LHC@home give the AVERAGE of the tree first credit reclaimed

Thanks for the information, I was really worried that I had some sort of major configuration problem. Particularly since I thought I'd noticed some odd discrepancies in my SETI results - turns out they're nothing to worry about.

Whilst I'm not all that bothered about the amount of credit I receive (I'm more worried about making sure I'm generating the correct results), the situation does seem incredibly unfair - essentially, people are being penalised for doing things the right way...!

Oh well, on to the next WU.
