I have recently changed a few of my machines over to Linux (Kubuntu v7.04 - 64bit) from WinXP and would like to continue crunching for Pirates. I have looked on the Help Desk before posting and couldn't see anything relating to my problem.

My one machine that got some work immediately after changing to Linux64 errored out on the 2 WU's it received :

<core_client_version>5.8.17</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
process exited with code 22 (0x16)
</message>
<stderr_txt>
execv: No such file or directory

</stderr_txt>
]]>

Does pirates support 64bit Linux - from the apps listed it looks like it does. My linux machine affected is ID:41759

This machine is currently crunching other projects with 64bit Kubuntu with no problems at all.

Do I have to do something special to get Pirates to run on Linux 64bit? I have not attached any more machines or asked for more work until I sort out what I need to do, in case it is a problem I need to fix first at my end.

I am new to Linux, so could you please keep your answer simple for this LinuxNewb.

Thanks for taking the time to look at this post.

Most excellent 1st post here teemac, and congratulations on your switch to Linux!
Google exited with code 22 (0x16) and join other BOINC participants with the same problem.
Looks to me they have your answer.

We do support 64bit Linux, but we do so by distributing the 32bit app to 64bit machines.

I think this post at QMC@Home explains it the best. Like them, we are distributing the 32-bit app to 64-bit machines. It seems you need to install a package and make some configuration changes to be able to run the 32-bit apps. (The person on QMC@Home dumped Kubuntu and installed Gentoo, which is sort of like buying a new car when a fuse is out :-)
