And what version of the client? Ubuntu only maintains 5.10.8 at present. I imagine this will change after version 8.04 is released this month.

I think the "null pointer" message is harmless (and so it should go away in a future version of this app). I think it just means that no trickle down message was found. But I'll check, when I have time, to see where this comes from.

But I'll check, when I have time, to see where this comes from. ERR_NULL -116 This error is generated in general, when a reference to a certain URL, project or result's name is invalid. In detail that is: - The project as stated in the state file can't be found. - The result as stated in the state file can't be found. - The requested version of a science application for a certain task can't be found. - Missing or incorrect project URL. - On Date/Time conversion (date/time informations are passed as a long float number), a given time value passed to the date/time converter is negative or the output buffer was not initialized correctly. - The science app respectively it's corresponding file containing a soft link to the executable file can't be found. This error may also be issued if a trickle (used by some projects) can't be generated due to a missing/wrong project/result name. (My FAQs are good ;)) ____________ Jord. The BOINC FAQ Service.

I'm still getting this on my three Windows machines.. BOINC Manager Version 6.1.14 One machine each.. Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista. The error appears to be completely benign. One of the error chains contained 90 error messages, all with the same date/time stamp (4/14/2008 10:29:03 AM) Followed by a good "4/14/2008 10:29:03 AM|Pirates@Home|Scheduler request succeeded: got 0 new tasks" ____________
