I just watched one under XP. I noticed that the CPU time stopped accumulating for about 5 or 6 seconds (as timed by the ever so scientific and precise one-mississippi two-mississippi method). When it started to accumulate time again, I switched to the message tab. It had sent a trickle message during those few seconds. This may be why I'm seeing CPU times of around 50 minutes under XP (it's a dedicated cruncher right now).

This result ran 1.25 hours CPU time. It's also one that was running when I stopped the service to upgrade the Einstein power users app and the core client. worker: CPU time: 4506.453125 seconds, wall clock time: 3634.750000 seconds for 100000000 iterations. I think (I'm 95% positive) it was roughly between 10 and 15 minutes in when I stopped the service. I have a few cached on that machine, so I'll suspend one of them until tomorrow morning when I actually can keep my eyes open. Oh yeah, and now I see it reports the wall time in stderrout, so no need for the grepping of logs. ____________ Kathryn :o) The BOINC FAQ Service The Unofficial BOINC Wiki The Trac System

It runs for at least an hour, and estimates the fraction done based only on that, so it can be off, as you have seen. It's doing repeated Monte Carlo simulations and will exit after it finishes one after an hour has passed. ____________ -- Eric Myers "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." -- William Butler Yeats

This is the result I'm testing with (it's gonna be late, I got stuck at work, oh well). I let it run for just under 7 minutes before I stopped the service. I immediately restarted the service. CPU time as displayed by the manager picked up where it left off as did the percent complete.[/quote] Hmmmm... worker: CPU time: 2304.703125 seconds, wall clock time: 3608.125000 seconds for 100000000 iterations. Well. Whatever. Must have been some time from an alternate reality that slipped into that first result. ____________ Kathryn :o) The BOINC FAQ Service The Unofficial BOINC Wiki The Trac System
