I wanted to tell my colleagues in I2U2 about your project in any case. The project which got I2U2 started is called [[w:QuarkNet]]. They have several hundred cosmic ray detectors located in US schools and abroad, and the students handle running the detectors, uploading data to a main server, and then downloading data collected by the whole cluster and using it for inquiry-based education projects. Your project to run AIRES via BOINC could tie in to that very well. (And given my interest in both, I've started thinking about how to do a cosmic ray screensaver.
