A while back BOINC added a system of e-mail verification, used when you create your account or change your e-mail address. Many members of this crew joined before this was set up, so their e-mail addresses have not been verified by this mechanism, and until now there was no easy way to do it.

If you visit your account page and your e-mail address has not yet been verified then you will now find a link next to the address which allows you to go through the verification process. The instructions should make it clear (it works like just about any other e-mail verification process on the web) but of course feedback is welcome if any problems are found.

Having a verified e-mail address is not required to participate in Pirates@Home, but it is currently required to be chosen as the Pirate of the Day.

Finally, just to make sure it's clearly stated, e-mail addresses are kept private and not used for anything other than account access and communicating with the crew (and then only if you check the box for it in your preferences -- and we've never actually used that feature).
