So what of you just edit it to say Wayne, then click Update Info?

Thats exactly what I tried to do, but that didn't work. I am keying in characters, but the site thinks the box is empty.

This blank user name box is also happening at the create new user form.

I belive I have fixed the problem, on both the form to change your account name, and on the account creation form. There was a problem in the test for letters using a regular expression which was unfortunately not enclosed in /slashes/

Please test this and report any problems.
